Did Drew Tate take a shot at the state of Iowa and the Hawkeye fans who live here? Or was he just joking?
You can see the interview here on the www.whotv.com sports page or under "AS SEEN ON 13", look for "13Raw".
Please watch, vote on our web poll, and then discuss on the Murphy's Law feedback. I'll give you my thoughts next time.
I hope you had a great holiday.
Keith
p.s. Thank you to WOIA, the NBC in San Antonio, for shooting the interview with Tate for us.

Drew,
With your latest example of immaturity, you've managed to alienate what few fans you had left. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Go Hawks!
Well, I watched the interview and he is right. What else is there here in Iowa? Until you start selling out the Iowa Stars and Des Moines Bucs games every home game they play, then we can argue the fact that there is something else here other than Iowa and Iowa State sports. The sad thing is since Iowa had a disappointing season, they pinpoint it on Tate, then, they look for anything and everything to try to make him look bad. I thought Iowa fans had more class than that. It's just like when people wanted Alford to leave, but their mind seemed to change when we won the Big Ten last year. Give me a break!
P.S. I am an Iowa fan to clear things up.
Go Hawkeyes!
It really burns me up that Tate was given his college education on a silver platter, and then back in Texas, he repays the debt with the stereo typical jab at the state of Iowa. “All they care about is the price of corn…” He could have at least come up with something original. Every college QB receives the blame when the team offense isn't clicking, not just at Iowa. That is just the way it goes.
Drew Tate is an ungrateful punk.
DREW TATE CAN BE THE OFFICIAL POSTER BOY FOR "DUMB JOCKS"
AFTER HIS COMMENTS. SO WHAT IF IOWA DOESN'T HAVE A "PROFESSIONAL" SPORTS TEAM. THERE ARE MORE THINGS TO LIFE THAN SPORTS. MAYBE HE SHOULD COUNT HIS BLESSINGS AND TRY TO DO SOMETHING NICE FOR SOMEONE ELSE AND GET INVOLVED IN SOMETHING BESIDES SPORTS. P.S. - HE MIGHT WANT TO INQUIRE ABOUT TAKING A CLASS IN IMPROVING HIS PERSONALITY.
We do a little more than watch the corn grow here. I take pride in the fact that our state supports the college athletics the way we do. Drew needs to remember that it is those fans who help get them to a pretty good bowl game every year. Look at poor Minnesota. They should be in a much better bowl this year, but they have no fan base BECAUSE they have a professional team. Let me also add that Texans aren't ones to talk. You come out of the womb a long horns fan.
Rude, arrogant and ungrateful. Just more of the same for him.
Did you see the same interview I did? The question I heard was asking about how critical the Iowa fans have been and how he handles it. I think he was trying to minimize the Iowa fans that are have posted ugly comments, not to really denegrade the state of Iowa. It is amazing to me how the fans can post incredibly ugly comments on his play and he makes a legitimate comment about no pro teams and the fact that Iowa puts the same spotlight on our College teams as we would if we had a Pro Team. I think the immaturity is on the Iowa fans side not Drew Tate's. Please tell me any of you who at 21 or 22 could take all the media criticism he has had to endure.
I am an Iowa Hawkeye fan and I am going to support the Hawkeyes at the Alamo Bowl - the team includes and is led by Drew Tate.
All of you expect Drew to have a tough skin, maybe you should start taking your own advise.
I think that Tate is absolutely biting the hand that feeds him. He's had a fantastic run at Iowa, and he's going to go out on a sour note like this!? What an idiot. I think it'd be great if all the Iowa fans going down to the game turn their backs when he gets on the field, since he has no problem turning his back on the fans that got them to the bowl game they don't even deserve to be at.

I could not have said it better myself.
As University of Iowa graduate, and enthusiastic (financial as well as emotional) supporter of Hawkeye Athletics I find it appalling and narrow the comments by Iowa's football team leader Drew Tate. It is difficult for me to understand how he can so easily criticize the very fan base that landied his team in a bowl game that they didn't deserve to play in. Iowa is hardly the place Drew described. I doubt I need to argue that the University benefits greatly from it's alumni and fan base. This was an ill founded comment that will have nothing but a deleterious effect on support for University. I love Iowa and I love the Hawks! Drew go back to the Texas and leave your degree we paid for here!
I predict the "@#$% State" and "Beat State" t-shirts are going to come back in style around Iowa City...with a minor alteration, that is...
Tate has no problem incriminating himself even more. "Yeah, Iowa doesn't have anything, but I'll go to college there".........He's an absolute punk.
Big deal - Tate was right on. There isn't much else to do in Iowa. If there was the local media would not be making this a story at all. I was more riled up to see the step-dad try to shield Tate and re-direct the blame. It is a non story. And I'm a Cyclone fan wanting Texas to kill the Hawks!
