Chief Speculation, Mission Impossible

I expect Kirk Ferentz back as Iowa's head coach for a 14th season. But... if Ferentz ever wanted to give the NFL a try, it's unlikely he'll find a better time and fit than the Kansas City Chiefs right now. Ferentz is close friends, and trusts, Chiefs GM Scott Pioli. The Chiefs, thanks in large part to injuries, underachieved this season. They're set up to contend in a weak division. Kansas City isn't far away. The last of Ferentz's kids, Steven, is about to graduate from Iowa City High. Ferentz just lost his longtime defensive coordinator, Norm Parker, to retirement. Ferentz has led Iowa to four top ten finishes, and two Big Ten co-championships, and now fans expect more than 7-5...

None of this means the Chiefs will offer Ferentz the job, or that he'd take it---the guess here is that Iowa is his final job---but again, if he were ever going to make the move, he'd be hard pressed to find a better time...

Ferentz remains under contract at the University of Iowa until 2020, which in the odd world of coaching contracts means if Iowa fires Ferentz, it owes him millions of dollars, but if he decides to leave, he's free and clear...

13 seasons and counting.

I already have my Science Center of Iowa IMAX tickets to see Mission:Impossible Ghost Protocol (and no, I don't know why the colon is between mission and impossible). At Rotten Tomatoes.com, 100% of the critics who have reviewed the movie give it the thumbs up, the trailer looks great, and Jeremy Renner makes any movie he's in better...
More colons.

If KF is lucky enough to stay at KC for 5 years, he would be able to have his 3 sons start on his o-line. How sweet.
