Cyclones Again, McCaffery Cares, Ed Assists

Iowa State showed flashes in the first half of Iowa. If the Cyclones can learn to play hard, smart, and together for entire games, they could make noise. Still a long way to go...

Much longer for Iowa. The Hawkeyes don't have enough skill, and they're not compensating with effort and intensity. Fran McCaffery seems far more invested than his players...

Hawkeye fans need to show patience. The Lickliter era set Iowa basketball back five years. McCaffery can coach, but it all starts with players. Help is on the way next year...

Classy move by Iowa State naming the media room after the late Pete Taylor. It was easy to see at the dedication how much the room means to Taylor's family and close friends...

Have the Cyclones ever had a year where they dominated the Hawkeyes like 2011? Iowa's lopsided wrestling win is the Hawks lone high profile win...

What the heck happened to UNI at Montana? The Panthers had another good season, but the 48-10 exit will sting for a long time...

Cyclone volleyball team reached the Elite Eight for the second time in four years. We might be under-covering this a little...

I'm fighting a cold. During Friday night's 9 p.m. newscast, I got choked up, lost my ability to talk, and needed an assist. Enter Ed Wilson. He walked over, grabbed my scripts, and finished the stories until I could get some water. Thanks Ed...

Looking forward to an Iowa Energy game with the family Saturday night...

We receive a few office gifts this time of year. My favorite so far comes from the always imaginative Kendra Daly at Daly Happenings. I ate the cow pie immediately, Jenny loves the udder lotion, and best of all is that ice scraper in a warm glove. I'll use that. Tonight:

that was pretty smooth and cool of Ed. He probably dreams of doing your job. You should do the switcheroo trick on April Fools like Jerri Ann and Bonnie did a few years back.
